The guide to muscle cars for 2021

You might think 1960s and 1970s when you think “muscle cars” but there are actually some great muscle cars available in 2021. Now I know that the selection of muscle cars in 2021 is significantly less than what was available in say the 1960s as many of the name brands from that time are not even being produced now.

You will also be much more limited in how you can spec out your new muscle car compared to how these cars could be spec’ed out back in the day. While today you are limited to trim levels and packages, 30-50 years ago you could literally order a muscle car exactly how you wanted. Ok so if I haven’t convinced you to go and search for a used classic, let me go over some excellent choices of muscle cars for 2021.

Chevrolet Camaro 2SS

Easily one of the most iconic muscle cars ever produced. When you ask the general public to name a muscle car, I can bet you they will say the Camaro. If you are considering it you should look for the 2SS trim level Camaro. This will include the 6.2L V8 engine producing 455 horsepower which will do the quarter mile in 12.2 seconds and 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds. You also get the Bose premium sound system, dual zone climate control, heated front seats and steering wheel, rear-park assist and memory seating. If you want GPS and a bigger touch screen, you should add Chevrolet’s Infotainment 3 Premium System.

Dodge Challenger Scat Pack 392

Packing the most powerful V8 engine of all the models on this list, the Dodge Challenger has a lot to offer. Although Dodge had killed the Challenger for a period of time, they brough it back in 2008 and have not looked back. The Scat Pack 392 model comes with the 6.4L Hemi V8, producing 485 horsepower. It will do the quarter mile in 11.7 seconds and 0-60mph in 4.2 seconds. You also get great comforts by adding on the Plus group which gives you Nappa leather heated and vented front seats. If you want GPS and smartphone connectivity you should add on the UConnect Nav package.

Ford Mustang GT Premium

The Ford Mustang is an iconic American muscle car. There are decades upon decades of history to this name plate and Ford has kept up with making this one incredible production car. I strongly recommend you go for a GT Premium trim level to ensure you get a well-equipped muscle car. This will give you nice comforts such as leather-trimmed heated and cooled front seats, the SYNC infotainment system and a solid nine-speaker system. But most importantly you’ll get the 5.0L V8 engine producing a solid 460 horsepower that does the quarter mile in 12.2 seconds and 0-60mph in 4.2 seconds.

Enjoy the burnouts!
