Why you shouldn’t drive on empty

Look, I’m definitely someone who suffers from range anxiety, I fear running out of fuel while on the road, but there is a lot of you out there who drive me crazy by pushing the needle to the last drop of fuel before you fill up. I get it, filling up can be annoying and the worst-case scenario you’re just calling for a tow or walking to a gas station right?

Wrong. Constantly letting your vehicle run almost out of fuel is terrible for the fuel pump. When you run low on fuel you are adding pressure to the fuel pump to make it work harder with less lubrication (fuel) which can shorten it’s life. If a fuel pump is not running 100% you can have other issues such as the inability to start or low power.

So yeah, stop driving with your gas light on.
