The top 10 most expensive vehicles to insure has a couple surprises

Every year a new list of the top 10 most expensive vehicles to insure comes out. Now this is put together from data from the major insurance companies which use different factors to come up with these numbers. Things like top speed, horsepower, number of cylinders, cost to replace, etc are all some of those factors.

Insurify released there list for 2020 and there are a few interesting vehicles on this list that I bet you didn’t expect. Here is the break down:

  1. Maserati Ghibil
  2. Maserati Granturismo
  3. BMW M4
  4. Alfa Romeo Giulia
  5. Mercedes-Benz A-Class
  6. Tesla Model S
  7. Toyota 86
  8. BMW 235i
  9. Maserati Quattroporte
  10. Nissan GT-R

The first thing you’ll notice is how many Maserati’s are on this list but that might not be a surprise. Obviously, these are some expensive vehicles which would make them expensive to replace. They are also packed with large motors and lots of power. Further down the list you’ll see Tesla Model S, which is still an expensive car but not that expensive to some other vehicles that could have made this list. The reason why the Model S is on there is the cost of any repairs, which have to go through Tesla’s repair shop, which costs a lot of money for even the smallest repairs.

Finally, the most surprising vehicle on the list, the Toyota 86. Easily the cheapest vehicle on this list, and one of the lowest horsepower vehicles on the list, so what gives? It’s a Toyota, how much could the repairs be? Well, the cost of replacement and repairs are actually fairly reasonable. The problem with the Toyota 86 is that there are too many drivers getting into collisions with them. As a result, insurance companies are raising the rates on them.

Drive safe!
