If you wanted to own a little history of an NBA player, now is your chance. Shaquille O’Neal’s 1998 Ferrari F355 Spider is currently being auctioned off on Bringatrailer.com.
The vehicle has been extensively modified to fit a person with O’Neal’s frame so it is pretty unique in that point of view. The car was modified by removing the soft top and factory fuel tanks which provided more seating space. There were also some upgrades such as custom seats, racing harnesses, a custom sound system, and bigger brakes. This vehicle does have a ton of service records and currently sits with 7,4000 miles.
Now for the interesting part, the vehicle auction shows a clean title but it has been learned the vehicle had a pretty serious collision. A BaT member, Suitcase, commented that he purchased the vehicle new in February 1998 and has all the paperwork from it. He totaled the vehicle in the summer of 1998 and was reimbursed by his insurance company. The damage was severe enough that the frame shrunk about 1-1/2″. But honestly that only makes this vehicle more interesting, as without this collision and serious damage, O’Neal probably would never have had a F355. There were no Ferrari’s that could fit a man of his stature from the factor so this was really the perfect one to customize for him. You can find the listing here!
